Tweed initially kicked off in November 2013, known at that time as Tweed Marijuana Inc. which eventually rebranded to Canopy Growth Corporation (CGC) in late 2015 as a parent company for other Licensed Providers that they had acquired. Following these acquisitions in early 2017 they changed their online store from simply Tweed to Tweed Main Street to better encompass all the brands and products now offered. They initially established themselves in the abandoned Hershey’s Chocolate factory in Smiths Falls, Ontario but have continued to expand over the years and now have facilities across Canada.

In addition to providing quality cannabis to patients across Canada, Tweed also exports to Europe, and is partnered with MADD Canada to promote responsible driving campaigns. In today’s market, they are one of the most recognized cannabis companies in the world due largely to their product selection and branding. Tweed Main Street now houses such brands as Spectrum Cannabis (formerly known as Mettrum Cannabis) which will be their flagship brand for the medical cannabis, DNA Genetics, Foria, Tweed, Tweed Farms, Black Label, and Craftgrow Collection; with the hope of launching a Homegrow Collection and Tweed Grasslands sometime in the near future. To further their branding, CGC also landed the exclusive rights for Leafs by Snoop, which was negotiated after the rapper became part owner of CGC in mid 2018 and his manager Ted Chung become a Strategic Advisor for content strategy.

Canopy Growth strives to provide their patients with many options, and are constantly working to refine well-known cultivars from around the world, while additionally breeding their own proprietary genetics. They aim to equip patients with the most diverse range of products (dry herb, soft gels, and oils) to treat a large array of symptoms and conditions. Their products adhere to ACMPR regulations and all products must pass over 300 quality control checks before being shipped out to patients. In addition, they also offer compassionate pricing programs for Veterans, and individuals earning less than $29,000 per year. Being one of the largest producers in Canada, supplying roughly 33% of Canada’s medical cannabis needs (according to Business Insider) we can expect to see Canopy Growth Corporation continue to grow and expand as the canadian cannabis industry continues to explode.
