Ruxton #1 a.k.a Sour OG is a cross of two of the most popular and widely available strains in the world, Sour Diesel and OG Kush. Due to the wide availability of the parent strain there is also a vast array of phenotypes for the Sour OG. Traditional Sour OG is a 50/50 hybrid; however, Broken Coast has made the Ruxton #1 into much more of a Sativa with a 70% Sativa and 30% Indica split with more cerebral effects and a truly fun version of a classic!
The Ruxton has uniquely weird, pointy and out of this world looking buds! The herbs seem to protrude in every which direction with scatter bright orange hairs; the density and sheer number of insanely large, super sticky trichomes covering this strain mixed with the vibrant alien green and much darker jungle green leaves, all contribute to an extraterrestrial look. The one element the Ruxton #1 is lacking, is the purple hue like it’s sibling Ruxton #3 does.
What does it smells like:
The Ruxton #1 when first smelled is honestly and truly straight diesel! After the initial blast to the face, where one may get mistaken that they were just transported to a truck-stop, citrus and pine notes are introduced. If the initial odors of this herb remind you of a truck-stop then the citrus and pine notes are going to feel like light scents on the wind of a forest and lemon orcharch just beyond a nearby hill, tantalizing your nostrils and scent receptors
What does it taste like:
Thankfully the Ruxton #1 flavour is not quite as intensely diesel as the fragrance might have suggested. While the taste is still quite diesely, and that is certainly going to be your initial flavour- this is actually a fantastic tasting herb! The citrus notes, similar to zesty lemon and the pine that comes across obligingly sour and pungent, are much more pronounced than indicated by the aroma of the flower.
Use and Effects:
The Ruxton #1 is the fast and furious of strains, the very cerebral initial high comes on fast and hard! I now understand what people mean when they refer to a herb as a “one-hit-quit” strain- due to these intense cerebral effects new users and individuals prone to anxiety should use lower amounts of this jovial herb. After the headiness subisude the user is left with some body effects and some burnout towards the end of the high. I have consumed this strain through a number of methods – through a water pipe, a joint and a home and portable vapourizer unit; all of which worked exceptionally well! However, I remained more lucid when I consuming this strain through a vaporizer unit.
