There is an anticipated shortage for recreational cannabis at launch. Licensed Producers will be giving preferential access to medical patients.


Medical Patients will have first access on Health Canada approved products like pills, topical, and patches. Recreational users will have less product regulation.


Medical Patients are allowed to carry 1 month’s supply or 150 grams (whichever is lowest). Recreational users can only possess up to 30 grams of cannabis in public.


ACMPR Home Growers can grow 4 plants for every gram allotted. Recreational growers will have a maximum of 4 plants per household.


Medical Cannabis is a Medical Expense at tax time. Recreational cannabis is not.


Medical Patients will have full access to CBD products. The recreational market will be THC dominated.


Health Insurance companies are offering Medical Cannabis Coverage. Recreational cannabis will not be covered by health insurance.

In order to keep all patients safe, medical cannabis is not routinely authorized for a handful of conditions due to some contraindicators. These conditions include psychosis, bipolar disorder, cannabis allergies, and patients with a history of heart and kidney issues.
