Purple No. 3 a.k.a Morning Glory is sativa-dominant hybrid strain with lower THC than most THC-dominant strains. Morning Glory as a strain was made popular by Barney’s Farm when it won in the 2002 Cannabis Cup. Morning Glory is a genetic cross of Afghani, Hawaiian, and Skunk, and certainly inherits flavorful terpenes from each parent!

Physical Description:
The Purple No. 3 is a refreshing looking strain. The buds are a deep rich emerald or almost teal green colour with the odd speck of purple hue spotted throughout the buds. Purple No. 3 does not offer overly dense buds and has very little orange pistils- the little hairs that can be seen barely inch out from the impressive green this strain offers. Due to the lower density of this strain there was a bit of stem present but this was compensated for by a nice layer of trichomes covering the herb.
What does it smell like?
The Purple No. 3 has a very robust hay, slightly grassy, earthiness to it- nothing impressive on first whiff. However, once the buds are ground up it exposes the true aroma this strain can offer! There is an incredible sweet, floral, and fruity aroma reminiscent of lemon and berries. There is also a distinct but faint scent of sandalwood and spice.
What does it taste like?
The Purple No. 3 is certainly a smooth toke whether vaped or smoked! This strain combines the exotic island flavors of a Hawaiian and the robust flavours of Afghani and Skunk. It starts off with a bit of earthy, sour zestiness that floats over your tongue and leads into sweeter, fruitier tones resembling blueberry or strawberry and finishes with a mouth watering combination of pineapple and woody spice.

The Purple No. 3 with it’s lower THC content is well suited to those who are new to cannabis or just looking for that temporary boost in energy, like an espresso in the morning. This great strain takes creativity and combines it with truly uplifting, focused effects without a hint of anxiety of paranoia. After taking a toke the psychoactive effects are nothing crazy and do not cause one to feel hazy- but everything around you seems slightly better, from the tunes you’re rocking, to the crispy croissant you might be about to enjoy! If you need a THC dominant strain without being out of commission this strain could be for you! I have consumed this strain through a number different methods- a water pipe, a joint and a home-vapourizer unit; all of which worked well; however this strain did not produce the thickest vapour i’ve ever experienced.
